United Disabled Persons of Kenya (UDPK) was established and registered on 3rd Feb 1989 as the national federation of organizations of persons with disabilities in Kenya. The organization exists to advocate for equal access to opportunities and active participation of persons with disabilities in mainstream development processes. UDPK’s mandate is advocating for the rights of persons with disabilities in all spheres of life. It is committed to ensuring persons with disabilities share an equal platform and enjoy their rights across all sectors of development UDPK’s vision is to realize an inclusive society where all persons with disabilities enjoy their human rights and realize their full potential. Our mission is to promote full, effective, and meaningful participation of persons with disabilities and their representative organizations in all spheres of life as enshrined in legal frameworks

About me

Esther Mkamori is the Head of Programs at United Disabled Persons of Kenya (UDPK). She has more than ten years of experience in developing and implementing programs in the disability sector in Kenya, from the community to national and international levels. Esther is an alumna of the BRIDGE CRPD-SDGs, a capacity-building program by the International Disability Alliance (IDA) and the International Disability and Development Consortium (IDDC). She has expertise in supporting disability rights advocates and organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs) to develop, incorporate, and sustain an inclusive (all persons with disabilities) and comprehensive (all human rights) CRPD perspective into their development efforts. Esther has presented on disability issues at the United Nations General Assembly and at the Conference of States Parties to the CRPD (COSP13, COSP14, COSP15).
