My organisation

The Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (HCD) is a Jordanian public institution headed by His Highness Prince Mired Raad Zeid Al-Hussein. As a specialized, effective, and inclusive national body, HCD promotes the rights of persons with disabilities across all aspects of life. It serves as the principal national authority for policy development, technical know-how and the implementation of pilot projects and monitoring processes, employing clear, scientific, and methodological mechanisms as mandated by the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities No. 20 for the Year 2017.

About me

Hazem Zureiqat is a member of the Board of Trustees at the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Jordan, where he works to advance national policies that promote accessibility, inclusion, and the rights of persons with disabilities.

He is also a seasoned engineering consulting professional and Partner at Engicon, a multidisciplinary firm operating across the Middle East. At Engicon, Hazem leads business development efforts across key sectors such as transport, water, infrastructure, buildings, and the environment.

A transport specialist by training, Hazem has played a central role in major transport initiatives in Jordan and the region, including projects focused on public transport, highway design, smart cities, and electric mobility. He is an active contributor to Jordan’s transport discourse through writing, public speaking, and advocacy—most notably as a founding member of a public transport advocacy group.

Hazem holds a master’s degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a bachelor’s degree from Macalester College. His areas of expertise lie in transportation engineering, planning, and economics. He previously worked at the Greater Amman Municipality as part of the city’s core transport planning team.

He is also a co-founder of Sowt, a leading Arabic podcasting platform, and a former President of the MIT Arab Alumni Association.
