About me
Mr Lim Puay Tiak (PT) is a founding member of the ASEAN Disability Forum (ADF) which was established in 2011. ADF is a network of OPDs in the 10 ASEAN countries to advocate for disability inclusive policy formulation and implementation. ASEAN has recognised ADF as an accredited CSO for disability matters. Mr Lim has been serving as its Chair since December 2017.
He is also a Board member of the International Disability Alliance (IDA) which was established in 1999 as a network of global and regional OPDs and their families. He was elected as IDA Honorary Treasurer in Feb 2024. He has been on the Executive Board as Honorary Treasurer of the Asia Pacific Disability Forum (APDF) for the past 15 years.
As ADF Chair, Mr Lim was actively involved in drafting the ASEAN Enabling Masterplan 2025 which is a blueprint for a more disability inclusive ASEAN Community. It took 3 years to finalise and was adopted by all ASEAN Heads of Government at its Summit in November 2018.
In October 2022, Mr Lim led ADF to join efforts initiated by UNESCAP and collaborated with other OPDs, CSOs and governments in the Asian Pacific region to launch the 4th Asian and Pacific Decade of Persons with Disabilities, 2023–2032 in Jakarta, Indonesia. This Decade will continue efforts towards a more disability inclusive development of the region.
As a wheelchair user, Mr Lim aims to make a difference in the lives of people with disabilities and empower them to be contributing members of the community.
