I am a French MP. Paraplegic since age 3, I am deeply committed for disability rights. In 2024, my bill for full wheelchair coverage was unanimously adopted.

My organisation

The French National Assembly is the lower house of France's bicameral Parliament. It consists of 577 deputies elected for five-year terms. The Assembly plays a crucial role in shaping legislation, scrutinizing the government's actions, and approving the national budget. Deputies debate and vote on bills, represent their constituents, and oversee the executive branch's activities, ensuring a system of checks and balances within France's democratic framework.

About me

Former psychologist, Sébastien Peytavie is a member of the French Parliament since 2022 and serves also as Secretary of the National Assembly. Personally affected by issues of accessibility and inclusion—having been paraplegic since the age of three—Sébastien Peytavie quickly realized that he wanted to be among those who heal, help, and strengthen human connections. He became actively involved in the fight for the rights of disabled people and access to healthcare and public services.

He sponsored a bill to address menstrual health in the workplace. In December 2024, his bill for the full coverage of wheelchairs by Social Security was unanimously adopted by the National Assembly. Since January 2025, he has been leading an evaluation mission, from a fundamental rights-based approach, on the “February 11, 2005 law”, the core law on the rights of disabled people in France.
